Judy Lin

I am inspired by people and their stories: memories with loved ones, an observed interaction between strangers, or a wholly imagined relationship. Every piece starts with a long narrative in my mind, and the shapes and colors follow. More than simply replicating a likeness, I want to capture the subject’s voice, character, and experiences. I hope that the story behind the work can reveal itself, but it is also gratifying when viewers are moved to create their own tales.

Before turning to art, I was a software developer and executive for 25 years. I think there are many similarities in the creative process for software and painting, but it is also exciting to explore something so different for a “3rd Act” in my life.
